Membership rules

Standards that protect the room.

WLBT works because members show up, stay current, behave professionally, and contribute to the quality of the network. These rules keep the room trusted, useful, and serious.

Operating standard

Membership is earned through participation, trust, and consistency.

This page is the public standard for how WLBT membership works. It supports the Join page, explains active standing, and gives members a clear benchmark for participation.

Purpose

WLBT is built for serious business relationships.

  • WLBT connects suitable business owners, leaders, and professionals in the Western Cape.
  • The room exists for trusted relationships, practical growth, and accountable participation.
  • Membership is for people who contribute consistently, not for passive listing or quick selling.
Attendance

Active members show up consistently.

  • Members are expected to attend regularly and remain visible inside the network.
  • Minimum expectation: 2 in-person meetings per month.
  • Minimum expectation: 1 online meeting per month.
  • Consistent attendance protects trust, momentum, and real opportunity flow.
Active standing

Deeper access is reserved for members in good standing.

  • Expanded opportunities and deeper access are reserved for approved, current, active members.
  • This may include member search, fuller resources, the full knowledge base, and wider content access.
  • Inactive or non-current members may receive reduced access until their standing is restored.
Payment

Membership access depends on staying current.

  • Members are expected to remain paid up and in good standing.
  • Where payment or status falls behind, WLBT may limit member-only tools, content, and opportunities.
  • Access can be restored when account status and participation are back in line.
Referrals

Introductions must be thoughtful and trusted.

  • Make introductions carefully and follow through when referring others.
  • Represent fellow members honestly and professionally.
  • Be able to clearly communicate your business, ideal client, and the support you need.
Conduct

Professional behaviour protects the room.

  • Treat other members with respect, maturity, and professionalism.
  • Bullying, abuse, hate speech, intimidation, dishonesty, and harassment are not acceptable.
  • Spam, aggressive selling, and low-value self-promotion weaken trust and may trigger review.
Member information

Member-only access carries responsibility.

  • Use member details, internal resources, and gated content appropriately.
  • Use access to strengthen the network, not exploit it.
  • Misuse of directory access or internal resources may lead to review, suspension, or removal.
Review

WLBT may review standing to protect the network.

  • WLBT may limit access or participation privileges where standards are not maintained.
  • Membership standing may be reviewed when conduct, attendance, payment, or participation falls out of line.
  • These decisions protect the room, its members, and the long-term health of the network.
Final note

Access follows contribution.

WLBT is not designed for passive membership. The members who get the most value are the people who attend, contribute, stay current, and protect the trust inside the room.
